The Ghanian leader also sought Nigeria’s resuscitation of the West African pipeline to enable his country use the Nigerian gas for its power generation. “I took the opportunity of the visit to discuss with him (President Jonathan) the issue of West Africa Gas Pipeline. As you are aware, it got broken and there was an accident when they were trying to activate it,” he stated.
Speaking further, Mr. Mahama said: “So, I want President Jonathan to use his influence to get the pipeline back into operation as soon as possible so that Ghana can continue to receive Nigerian gas to power our electricity generation.”
While condoling with the Nigerian president over the death of his younger brother, Mr. Mahama explained that he missed the funeral which took place because it fell on the same day with the Ghanaian elections.
