    What did George Zimmerman do?
On February 26, 2012, George Zimmerman killed Trayvon Martin in Sanford, Florida. Zimmerman, a 28 year old Hispanic-American, was the neighborhood watch coordinator, and Martin, a 17 year old African-American, was a high school student from Miami who staying with his father in Sanford during his two-week suspension from school. His father's fiancee lived in the gated community where Trayvon was shot.
Zimmerman was in his car when he spotted Martin walking on the street. He called the Sanford Police Department to report suspicious activity. Martin was walking with his hood up, and it was raining. Zimmerman noted that he was looking at all of the houses, and he looked like he was on drugs. Zimmerman then exited his car, and the two entered into a violent fight, ending with Zimmerman shooting Martin in the chest with a gun he carried on him.
Police arrived on scene 2 minutes later, and declared Martin dead within 15 minutes. Zimmerman claimed self defense, despite Martin being unarmed, but after the story gained much media attention, he was put on trial. On July 13, 2013, Zimmerman was found not guilty of murder or manslaughter.
