  • Ghana Water Co. has started investigations to prevent the shutdown of five of its plants by workers in the Accra and Tema metropolitan area over unpaid overtime allowances.
Ghana Water Co. chief manager for the Accra-Tema area, Emmanuel Appiah, will brief management of the company in a meeting later today on the issues at the plants, spokesman Michael Agyeman said by phone today.
“We want to know the true situation at these production plants,” he said. “After that we will take the necessary steps to bring resolution, ultimately to make sure the plants don’t get shut.”
Accra-based Daily Graphic reported today that 180 workers have threatened to close plants at the end of this month if monies owed them are not paid. They called for the resignation of Appiah.
