The reigning Artiste of the Year, Shatta Wale, has explained to his fans why he did not show up at last Saturday's Vodafone Ghana Music Awards. According to the 'Dancehall King' hit maker, he was approached by Charterhouse, the event organisers, to perform on the night and he charged them GHC70,000 which they declined on the basis that it is too much. Below is his unedited explanation, as posted on his Facebook page.
"MY LOVELY PEOPLE, I TOLD YOU LAST YEAR I WAS GOING TO PROVE THIS PEOPLE 1 DESERVE TO BE RESPECTED WHEN IT COMES TO MUSIC IN GHANA.# CHARTERHOUSE CONTACTED ME TO COME AND PERFORM AT THE # VGMA AND I ASKED THEM TO PAY ME #70,000GHC AND THEY REFUSED. BUT THEY WILL PAY HUGE SUMS OF DOLLARS TO OTHER ARTISTE FROM OTHER COUNTRIES TO COME AND PERFORM. BUT FOR US (GH ARTISTE), THEY WILL SAY THE MONEY IS TOO MUCH FOR THEM TO PAY..GH STARS STAND- UP!!!!! I KNOW MOST OF YOU CANT TALK WHEN THEY TAKE YOU FOR GRANTED BUT 1 WILL....AWARD OR NO AWARD...I AM STILL SHATTA WALE....THE #REVOLUTIONIST SM4LYF"Follow BrickClicks on twitter for instant update Follow @BrickClicks
